PIPPIN
American Staffordshire Terrier Pittie Mix
Female
DOB: Approx: February 25, 2024
Sweet Baby Girl, Pippin. Her story is heartbreaking. She was once a loved member of a family. She lived in a home in the neighborhood with a Mom, Dad and children.
She was happy and loved her family very much. She was a puppy that grew up in a happy home where she was loved...until the day that it wasn't easy anymore. The family's parents had a personal issue that caused the family to relocate and leave their beautiful loving girl behind. She was a good girl...she waited out in the yard and neighbors began to worry. Why was the dog still in the yard after the family moved? Sweet Pippin sat outside the door wondering when her people would be back. And they never returned.
One couple couldn't stand it and took her to the Franklin County Dog Shelter so she wouldn't be outside without care. But after they learned that there was a possibility that the sweet dog that they already loved from afar could be euthanized if not adopted fairly quickly, they pulled her and contacted PetPromsie agreeing to foster her until a good family willing to love her forever was found. For the first month, she stayed by the window in her foster home looking out...like she was watching for her family to come back. She is adjusting well, ad though a little shy girl for a few minutes she wars right up and her sweetness shines.
She does well with other dogs but hasn't been around cats yet. She is potty trained, a good girl and loves people. If you want to make a difference in the life of a little girl that has been heartbroken....this is your chance. It may take her some time to really believe that she won't be discarded again...she still yearns for a person/family of her own that will love her forever.
If you are ready to make a lifetime commitment to care for and love this very special girl for the next 10-55 years through thick and thin (not just until it’s not convenient) and are ready to welcome this baby into your home, please complete an

DUKE 'DUCK'
English Coonhound/Foxhound Mix
Male
DOB: Approx: January 27, 2024
Duke (known lovingly by his foster Moms as "Duck"), was found wandering the streets on the southside for days. He was finally picked up by Franklin County Dog shelter after being on his own for several weeks and close to starving.
He was terrified in the shelter. Once he met someone at the shelter, he bonded with them and huddled against their leg when they went outside. But anyone knew had him shaking in the back of his kennel. He barked and hid his head and shook in the corner. He didn't have a mean bone in his body but he was terrified. No one knows what he lived through but he was deemed too shy and scared to be adopted and was scheduled for euthanasia. One of the FCDS employees contacted PetPromsie and begged us to save this dog with the big scared eyes and the sweet soul. So we did. And he was terrified of us, terrified of anyone new.
Today, Duke is doing well in his foster home. He is not yet a dog that would be a good match for most people but is well on his way to being brave enough for a forever family! Duck will need at least one other dog, preferably two or more in the home. He gets so much confidence from his furry friends and loves all dogs and is great with dog savvy cats. Duck still has puppy energy, so he would love someone with a tall fenced backyard. Duck is still learning that the outside world is not a scary place, so someone who can be patient in showing him how fun a walk can be is best! He is a very happy, confident dog once he knows his people are people he is safe with and have lots of treats for him!
If you think that you can show Duck what its like to have his own family. To know that he is in his forever home. If you are a special person who understands that he needs a lot of patience and are willing to help him become confident and learn that he can be safe and loved, and you are ready to make a lifetime commitment to care for and love him for the next 10-15 years through thick and thin (not just until its not convenient) please complete an online Adoption Application!

POPPY
Pittie Mix Puppy
Female
DOB: Approx: August 5, 2025
Poppy is the pup with personality plus. She was born outside with her two sisters, Phoebe & Poppy near the side of the road. Their mama, Nylah stayed with them there and kept them safe until someone finally stopped and took them to the Franklin County Dog Shelter. It was not a good or safe place for newborn puppies so a call went out for rescues to help! And PetPromise stepped up.
The puppies grew up in foster homes and Nylah (their mother) and two of the girls were adopted. before the holidays and got to spend Christmas with their new families. But not Poppy. The sweetest of all of the puppies. She si still waiting for her forever family to find her. And we really don't understand why!
Poppy/Poppet/Rocky/Punky is a loving, playful, rambunctious 34 lbs, not likely to get much bigger (her mom is 30 lbs) house hippo. She does well with her 2 dog foster sisters and brother, and is perfectly-behaved toward the resident cat.
She is 99% housebroken. She takes treats nicely, knows sit, spin (counterckockwise), and is learning leash manners. She is a very good girl. She is active and likes to run and jump but she is not leash reactive and she has never dug up the yard. She is very good on car rides, loves the MooMoo car wash, and is good in the bath. She loves to have her teeth brushed. She is very food-motivated and loves all kinds of people. She also loves greenies and bully sticks. She cannot catch treats to save her life with her tiny lower jaw (adorable overbite!)--it's hilarious. She loves tug of war, wrestling with her foster siblings, and is learning to drop the ball to better play fetch. She loves to wear sweaters in the winter and looks fashionable in leopard, blue, red, and pink.
She did get into trouble at All Paws daycare for "forcing play" so could benefit from puppy obedience training. She does not bark much.
She will go into the crate for a treat but does not love it. She can do 5 hours at a time in the crate. She has nibbled on a few shoes, pillows, and couch cushions when left unsupervised but this is not an unreasonable amount of destruction for a puppy. However: She demolishes wicker baskets and loves to move big landscaping rocks around in the yard. She is also a fan of carrying big sticks around, when she can find them.
This little girl is not scared of anything and will attack the vacuum, dust buster, and blow dryer.
She likes sleeping under the covers right next to you or in the sunshine.
She is loving and will be ready to go to a family of her own where she can be carried around, taken for walks and where she can go to puppy obedience class (we recommend for ALL puppies!) She is going to make someone very happy to have her as their girl for the next 12-14 years!
